World title contender Anthony Crolla hopes to return to the ring as early as May, less than six months after burglars fractured his skull and broke his ankle.

The Mancunian lightweight admits he is lucky to even be alive after he was brutally attacked with a concrete slab when trying to apprehend thieves who had attempted to rob his neighbour's house.

However, Crolla - who obviously had to postpone next week's world title shot against WBA champion Richar Abril - is certain he will box again and hopes to return even sooner than his original target of the summer.

I sincerely hope the man can recover without any detriment to his health or career. It's a good sign if a comeback is predicted that soon.

Hopefully he can stay on course to get another title shot in place of the one that was coming his way before he was attacked.

i wouldnt be suprised if joe gallagher masterminded the whole thing and it went wrong he was probably only meant to sprain his ankle but it got out of hand.......it just seems to su****ious i wouldnt go around being some kind of action hero tbh somthings not quite right with this story...........I rekon jg is probably scanning the streets for bums already gona squeek out another 10 defenses of some kind of title. And if your a burglar your gona be running not going on the attack just seems a bit off.

so he cornered two guys and one had time rather than just run to pick up a concrete slab he noticed in the dark , we need pics of the whole crime scene tbh cause if they was even in crollas garden why would they be there wouldnt there be an easier way out?

i mean if crolla heard them he must have good hearing? and theyre not very good burglars are they? and you would have thought if he went out there they wouldnt run into his garden? wouldnt they go out the front door? did he even hear them or did he hear the alarm that would make more sense and if they went into his garden then why didnt he see them coming that way if they had to leave that way, whoevers investigating needs to nail down the stories cause it sounds fanciful. I like crolla but just seems odd. funny how we never hear the story from crolla we only hear what gallagher says we need the police report to be fair.

Some of these posts are mental haha. Im pretty sure boxers aren't allowed to punch people as they are trained and it can be seen as a weapon (something along those lines)

If Crolla had of knocked both the guys out cold, I guarantee he would be in court on assault charges!
