I'm a Mexican American and I wouldn't find it disrespectful if Mayweather vs Paquiao were to happen on Cinco De Mayo weekend.

A lot of the Mexican, and Mexican American people that I know still hope that the fight can still happen, so they can place in their bets.

If I can pick which fight I rather watch it's gotta be Pac vs Mayweather over Canelo vs Cotto.

Arum should try to convince the TMT team to fight on July 4th which lands on a Saturday next year.

That would be a win, win situation for us fans.

Getting Canelo vs Cotto on May and getting Pac vs Mayweather in July, but Arum is talking out of his a## about disrespecting the Mexican people.

Great point. 4th of July would be an amazing night for this fight. I never even thought about that. Floyd is American, and that is the biggest American Holiday of the year. hell that's even a big weekend here in Vancouver Canada. That makes a hell of a lot more sense than fighting on the Mexican holiday. I still think Arum caves as Floyd won't come off that may date.

People really need to understand Canelo nor Arum is in the driver seat to make any demands. Last time I checked Cotto hasn't signed to fight on this date. Cotto can wait and see make a lot more money fighting FMJ again than he can ever make fighting Canelo...the mexican superstar.

You see who's blocking this fight! why the *** does he care? Just deliver your fighter - Canelo nor Cotto is Top Rank - Cotto has yet to even sign his contract! Cotto fights under his own banner, but partners up with Top Rank for majority of his fights - People please wake up ! Of course its not the same. It is 2014 and Floyd has had that date on lock for years. That is common knowledge amongst the boxing community.

The only ones stepping on anyones toes are the people that decided to ignore that fact and attempted to make a fight that purposely conflicts with it.

Larry, what we want is both Fights ! What difference does it make what date they fight on. Respect goes to the Mexicans on the May date. How would you like it if a Mexican or another great country only would fight on JULY 4th to steal away that date from Americans ??????????
