        Both shady in their own ways. Even if arum is half politician half mob boss at least he stands out there and takes on all challengers. Haymon's shadowy by design modus operandi makes me more uncomfortable than arum....

                One is a promoter the other is an adviser/manager.

                Arum needs to talk to the media so he can get free publicity and sell his fights.

                Haymon is an adviser who isn't obligated to sell anything to the media.

                Some Managers talk to the media like Michael Koncz or Rolando Arellano, others like Cameron Duncan or Shelly Finkel are more behind the scenes.

                Regardless if you agree with Haymon or any other manager there is no obligation for them to sell/talk to the media.

                Plus he has his press guy Sam Watson with his two attention whore sons hogging up TV time.

                    Al Haymon is an introvert and was never a public figure long before he came to boxing .

                      Yes they have given interviews in the past but those are few and far between, they hardly even get press.

                      Look at Finkel for instance, most boxing fans don't even know who he is and he's been involved with a lot of big time fighters.

                      The thing with Haymon is he's the guy people love to hate, and since he doesn't give interviews he's an easy target for everything wrong with the sport. The job of a manger is to get his client the most money for the least amount of work, his job isn't to make the most compelling fights.

                      The promoters and TV executives are the ones who deserve the blame for garbage match-ups.

                      Is he good for Boxing? Hard to say, he's had good years and bad years. it's going to be interesting next year with his NBC deal.
