Team Pacquiao needs to preserve Manny until the Mayweather happens. He's getting older and has been in some wars. Preserve what Pacquiao has left to give him the best shot at defeating Mayweather.

If that is the strategy I understand the selection of opponents such as Algieri or Vargas..or even a move to 140 where less formidable challenges await that won't put too much wear-n-tear on Pac's body.
