    It's worth noting that neither Ruslan nor Broner are done. They just lost some fights.

      Before the Maidana fight Broner was hyped up on here to a crazy level. People actually believed he was going to be the next p4p king, even though he was looking average against the likes of Gavin Rees.

        When was Provodnikov hyped up?

          I was hoping to hear how Broner had rededicated himself with no more inappropriate comments, a cleaner lifestyle and then I read somewhere as recently as a week ago that he is partying across the country being paid to attend night clubs. It sounds like if he was told be could be paid half the price to be an entertainer, he would chose that over boxing in a split second. He needs to ground himself and find his center, find what means the most the most to him.

            Broner has bragged on himself to the extreme for years now while Ruslan does not brag much on himself. Broner has had about ten times the media hype as Ruslan for a much longer time so it's really no contest. I think Ruslan would beat Broner in a close exciting fight.

              I find this issue of 'Hype' and 'hypejobs' confusing. It's seems people mean (at least) two very different things.

              For me 'Hype' is something that happens in the wider world - Broadcaters spending money on advertising a fighter, affilated boxing writers going out of their way to plug them, announcers making sure the fighters' name is constantly mentioned whether they're fighting on a card or not.

              Some though seem to call a groundswell of opinion on Boxing Forums by the same name... a fighter who generates a lot of interest on 'Scene (or 'other' forums) will often be described as being 'hyped' just by being talked about a lot by (if you'll forgive the term) us boxing geeks, even if being largely unnoticed by the boxing mainstream media.

              I ain't trying to criticise just pointing out that it seem that people routinely argue at cross purposes when talking about the isue of hype.

              Under my definitions:

              Broner = Big Hype

              Provodnikov = small hype

              Golovkin = Big Hype

              Kovalev = small hype (at least until quite recently)

              Just saying. Hardcore fan popularity 'fan favourites' and excessive media promotion are two different things in my mind and from reading the thread it appears that the same dichotomy exists on the forum. It might help if we were all talking about the same thing.

                Lomochenko is the biggest hype job out there IMO. Hasn't looked all that hot to me but he is supposedly a big deal.

                GGG is a hype until.he beats someone with a pulse.

                Broner only hypes himself ....Provo is a slugger and a fan friendly boxer but who is saying he's more than he is?

                Chavez Jr might be considered a hype.

                  Sounds like the kid already found it.

                  I'm in no way a Broner fan but I also don't like to see a young man waste his talents. Let's hope he ain't slipped too far if he should choose to re-dedicate himself.

                    They're both good fighters. Not the best, but good. Threads like this are just lame.

                      How the hell is this even a question? Adrien Broner was top 5 p4p at one point. People called him the next Floyd Mayweather. Ruslan Provodnikov has never, ever, ever had hype anywhere close to that.
