Comments Thread For: Kovalev Dominates Hopkins, Unifies WBA/WBO/IBF Belts

Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City - Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23KOs) was forced to go the twelve round distance for the first time in his career, but he had more than enough firepower to dominate the 49-year-old Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32KOs) to win a lopsided unanimous decision to unify the WBO/IBF/WBA light heavyweight titles. The scores were 120-107, 120-107 and 120-106.

Kovalev started strong, applying pressure in the first and scoring a knockdown with a short counter on Hopkins. Following that round, Hopkins was mostly on the defensive and landing one punch at a time here and there, while Kovalev dominated the action with activity, hard punches and combinations.

Let's see how many of the "Bhop will expose" fanboys show up the next few days lol. Props to Bhop he's got a hell of a chin but they let him take unnecessary punishment in the 12th. He should retire and enjoy life.

"He's all power and he can't box"

Well mofo's now you know he can actually box

That was really dumb of hopkins, his corner and the ref..

That's how people get hurt. Hopkins didnt make it 49 years by taking uneccessary punishment like that. I think they were just trying to maintain hopkins record of never being knocked out or stopped.
