People generally do not enjoy "the Cuban boxing school"... One can easily watch a good Cuban master fighter at the amateurs... But at the pros the Cuban style is quite boring to watch for so many rounds...

To conclude (sic!): the Cuban style isn't adequate for pro boxing...

Marquez did not go through a public image execution from those which were supposed to promote him. There is a huge difference.
Vazquez is more a runner, he's become more of a clincher in his last couple of fights, but that's the type of style he tried to emphasize hit and don't get hit, obviously rigo can do it better. Vasquez even said he incorporated that style after visiting Cuba.

Jmm kinda did bro, he lost promoters, both morales, Barrera, and the prince refused to acknowledge. Dude even lost titles bc he couldn't find anybody to defend them against.

Stop using the whole Mexican style bs.

Rigo is not a boring fighter to me. The guy has skill. He not only moves to get out of the way of attacks, he also counters and mounts attacks of his own when his opponents aren't expecting it. He doesn't grab and hold like the best never. I think more so than fans not being interested in him, fighters don't want to fight him. It's quite possible that the man is actually too good. He needs to keep pushing on, taking what fights he can like GGG does, and kicking ass. He shouldn't push too hard for the big PPV fights. Eventually, he'll get the recognition he deserves and become a mandatory challenger to some of these so-called "champions". Sooner or later, they'll have to fight him.

Rigo is a great talent and is on another level from the rest of the division. However, his style isn't for everyone, especially the casual fans, who may I remind you fuel the sport. So if you can't build excitement among casuals through your fight style, then you have to do it with your outside ring persona (IE: Floyd). He's been fighting in the states for several years yet has not learned English or speak it in public at least. That's one thing going against him, the language gap. Even fighters with much more fan friendly styles are speaking English (IE. Pacquiao, GGG, Marquez, Cotto). So its either change his style like Marquez did and see if his popularity grows or just stick which has been working, which I can understand. However, he cannot then act surprised why he's not popular. The sad reality is that popularity and talent aren't always correlated. It happens in music, sports, politics, movies, etc.

This is boxing, we pay for your fights, since you're not willing to give us a show, fans are not willing to pay.

                  Put up, or stop crying.

"wah wah wah, they think im boring."

How many years have passed, and this guy still doesn't get it.

This just tells me I'll most likely pass on his next fight, whenever that is.

                      I like rigo......but he's full of **** here!!
Everybody including Mexicans knows boxing is hit and not get hit. But it's the way you avoid getting hit that can change the fan base of a fighter. Or even the way you hit.
