Comments Thread For: Top Rank Eyes December Return in Orlando For Verdejo

It’s been six months between Orlando (FL) appearances for Felix Verdejo. Anticipation of his return was felt at the box office, as event handlers at the Bahia Shrine Temple were forced to turn away fans and lock the doors after the venue was sold out and at Standing Room Only capacity on Saturday for his 3rd round knockout of Sergio Villanueva.

There’s very good news for those who didn’t make it in time to catch a glimpse of the rising lightweight prospect: they won’t have to wait another six months for his return. Plans are in place to bring Verdejo (15-0, 11KOs) back for his final fight of 2014.

He already has 15 fights that's incredible despite the level of opponents he's so young that it's not really a detriment at this point but by next year they should get him some real journeyman types.

They never announced the actual number, just that they ran out of seats and SRO tickets and literally had to lock the doors to keep anyone from trying to sneak in.

Good to see excitement in different parts of the country. We know LA, NY, and Vegas are always good boxing towns, but great to see Orlando, San Antonio, and even Omaha get good boxing crowds.

Isn't it odd that they announced all that but not the actual attendance figures themselves? For all we know they ran out of tickets and SRO at a facility that seats 1,500 which would be kind of misleading and not as impressive as they are making it sound.

In any case I hope the numbers were outstanding because that would be good for the sport.
