Personally I would be inclined to avoid a game of chicken with Al Haymon.

Floyd has 2 fights left and will be 38 in A FEW MONTHS..I DOUBT HE WILL FIGHT ONCE NEXT YEAR

Unless a more appealing opponent comes up, that's exactly what I think he'll do. Fighting once a year is nothing new to him. I guess we will see.

Either he knows something we don't know/behind the scenes business splits, or he knows it's a game of chicken and one fight will have its date moved. They wouldn't put them on at the same time.

Fighting earlier than May might make some sense to him to even up the time off between his final two fights, he will have 8 months off until May but only like 4 to September.

I do think one way or another he give up one of the dates, if he only fights once or a different date who knows. That might all depend on how those negotiations go, I could see Floyd being pretty vindictive if they go poorly.

He just thinks that he can get by with his fake golden boy image and put a spin on it and people will slurp it up with out asking questions he's done this his entire career but if you sit back and look at It's all lies.

He approved every mismatch on SHO but claims he want the best vs best , Is Clottey the best available option? Its decent at best.

I give more credit to B-hop getting the Kovalev fight done then Oscar

hes probably alienated the rest of his stable , he *****.ted on Chinos effort when he put up a 100x better showing then his man crush Canelo who pretty much got shut out and embarrassed.

The guys not even comfortable in his own skin and his whole image and persona is phoney. I got more respect for Frank (Kellie) Malhoney then Oscar

If GBP puts on Canelo vs Cotto in May, they get that date. And GBP is a promoter, not Hayman. And Schafer is bound by contract to GBP till 2016 and it is best for Schafer to not stir up anything before then unless somehow the legal battle frees him up. But Oscar's lawyers will see to it that for the time being, Schafer is frozen from making any promotional moves in Boxing.

And any promotion on Mayweather's side is not going to come from any promoters with experience. You don't just get your promoters license and expect to win against GBP anymore than a doctor just out of med school is allowed to operate on some huge Hollywood star. That seals the May date for GBP most likely.

The only possible way to change that is if Floyd and Pac negotiate a fight and then that creates a new dilemma - if GPB wants the May date and TR and Mayweather want the May date, Oscar and Arum's bromance might come to a halt sooner than expected. Twists and turns everywhere and alliances will form and fail. And even though Mayweather has stated that he wont work with Arum, he might actually do that as a counter move in a huge power struggle to overpower GBP and there is no way in hell ANY fight competes on ANY day with a Floyd vs Pac fight, lack of promotional experience or not. Floyd may want to UP Oscar more than he would like to UP Arum and side with Arum just to get the Pac fight and win the business battle. But if Floyd wants the May date against anyone but Pac and GBP wants it for Canelo vs Cotto, Floyd can take a hike, aint happening for him on that date.

But I would not be surprised if Mayweather has met with Arum and had some private conversations. Team Mayweather would seriously shift the balance of power to one side if he chose to work with either Oscar - or especially Arum. From any promotional side, the best way to gain the most power in Boxing is for two en****** to unite. Anything less leaves 3 promotional teams in constant competition with each other.

All of this is pure speculation but there are a lot of possibilities that can come out that could change the face of boxing business.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the Post-Pac and Post-Maweather era and what en****** are in power and how much power. Boxing is going to have some spasms and growing pains, maybe some dying pains in some promotional areas.

with floyd-manny, nothing can compete with it,, but if its canelo-cotto and say floyd-khan/thurman,, then i think no doubt that canelo-cotto can be a major thorn in the side of floyd..

canelo is gonna bring the mexican fanbase
                      cotto brings the ricans
the style matchup will bring the other hardcore fans..

floyd will have the urban market
some of the casuals, but they are getting bored with floyd in a hurry since he isnt exciting in the ring.. I dont think casuals will flock to canelo-cotto, but they also wont flock to floyd-khan, thurman, brook...

If they both did h2h, i think they both do around 600k, which would be a success for canelo and cotto, but a disaster for floyd and showtime....
One of the best post I have seen all day!!!!!!!! 100% agree with everything you said .

This would be a disaster for Floyd andthat alone makes it worth it for canelo/DeLaHoya.

Which is why I think they will insist on pushing for the May date if they can get Coto.
