There are problems with Paulies assessment !

First You can't compare SRR or SRL because they fought the PRIME Welter Weight ELITES of the day,

JR has NOT !

IF I am wrong , then please tell me the PRIME WW ELITE that JR has fought in the past ten years ?

Either his opponents were Prime Elite in a smaller division, which can't count for greatness, that would be like heralding Clay and Frazier and declaring them GREAT for KOing Bob Foster !

or his opponents were old and past their primes,,,,,ODH

or they were just like ORTIZ, a good guy no doubt but ruined by Maidana, and R Guerrero a good fighter but not a true Elite and look at Maidana, who looked like he may have beat JR in the first fight and fought him again with EVERYTHING against him, from the gloves to the REF

Showtime has a lot at stake, no doubt in trouble with Jr. Pauli puts down Pac over KHAN !!!!!! Thasts pure Showtime.

Okay I'll try starting with Arturo in 2005

6-2005 Arturo Gatti WBC Super Lightweight Champion Class B hall of famer
11-2005 Sharmba Mitchell (Bum) extremely outclassed fight LOL
4-2005 Zab Judah Was suppose to be champ (hall of famer skills, ****** fighter) nuff said but still was the best ww at the time
11-2006 Carlos Baldomir nuff said
5-2007 Oscar De La Hoya (WBC Jr Middleweight champ; Hall of famer) dont say it was only because he was past prime when Pacman beat an even older and weight drain ODLH, Both was the best for their weight classes at the time
8-2007 Ricky Hatton (set on hall of fame career until mayweather and pac got to him lol) but was the best jrww at the time and a p4p fighter at the time
9-2009 Juan Manuel Márquez (#2 P4P even though floyd f'ed him on the weight lol still wouldnt had no chance of beating floyd but def hall of famer top 5 best mexican fighter ever)
5-2010 Shane Mosley (hall of famer Yes past prime but still was P4P especially after destorying margarito and was suppose to be floyds toughest fight, after 2nd round fight was shutout)
9-2011 Victor ortiz (****** in boxing gloves) no comment
5-2012 Miguel Cotto ( def hall of famer) Great fight was P4P fighter and still is especially when people hype cotto vs canelo but downplay floyd beating cotto

9-2013 Saúl Álvarez ( the best thing since slice bread according to some) great fighter top P4P at the time and still is, too early to tell if Hall of famer
5-2014; 9-2014 Marcos Maidana (not hall of famer not P4P but think he'll give anyone a great fight but still thinks he loses to both pac and floyd


Basically we need to give both pac and floyd real credit and stop hating both are hall of famers both fought the top guys in the divisions (except each other ). I think in any era both will be top p4p in their primes. IMHO Mayweather loses to Duran but easily beats him in rematch, loses to SRL & SRR, Hitman, beats pryor and most of the 80s fighters. No one beats SRR in his prime; Pac could go either way with Duran great fight but way too small for Hitman and loses to SRL, beats pryor if he doesn't drink that special water. Both fighters are great enjoy them while they're here. Back to lurking

are trying to look like a fool or you are really not aware that srl and srr are bigger guys than pbf and that at a similar age they were fighting a few weight classes part? sugars' opposition at 47 should be compared with pbf opposition at 30-35. you want to compare the 2 sugars with pbf's record at 47? go see their records at 60 and above... wtf is wrong with some ppl here...

You read to many romantic novels , there are tapes of Robinson to see with your own eyes , Floyd would box his ears of if they both weighed the same , Floyd at 135 was near on unbeatable , show me a link to tape of Robinson where you can say that fight right there he would beat prime Floyd .

Nobody can fight 100s of fights today at top level because the competition is better , the money is so much higher the game is faster , the training is better , the athletes in all sports are faster and more powerful with all records broken , the game is more destructive today , you have never boxed you read storys of old greats of the past and off you go into dreamland , watch these old greats fight on tape they would have a hard time today where technique is so much better .

Former two division world champion Paulie Malignaggi, who works as an expert analyst for Showtime, says WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) is no longer the fighter who dominated the competition from start to finish several years ago. Mayweather is now closer to 40 than he is to 30 and starting to look a little slower and more vulnerable to incoming punchers.

I think the same can be stated about every boxer out there with 15+ years experience. It is inevitable that the effects of age catch up to athletes.
