Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports says IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook will be back in the gym by the end of October. The boxer sustained a horrific injury to his leg when an unknown assailant stabbed him. Hearn is gunning to match Brook against heated British rival Amir Khan, who returns in a stay busy fight in December and then wants a crack at WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Hearn is urging Khan to stop chasing the Mayweather fight and instead focus on fighting Brook. Khan spent the better part of 2013 and half of 2014 chasing the match, but it was Marcos Maidana who received the opportunity.
