Maidana showed more skills in his recent defeat than Provodnikov has shown in his career. Don't get the Bradley fight twisted, it was Badley's ******ity that made Provodnikov who he is.

Maidana: 5 losses, 2 of them not remotely close.
Provodnikov: 3 losses, all 3 decided by one or two rounds. He's overrated & also underrated..

Provodnikov by SD or late TKO.

I'd say Ruslan in a slugfest. Maybe he drops Marcos with a bodyshot the way Khan did.

But while Maidana improved a lot under Garcia and the new verison of Maidana has 2 defeat, both against Mayweather and one of them was close, Provodnikov didn't improve a lot since his firt loss against Herrera, he did exactly the same mistakes and fought almost exactly the same fight against Algieri.
But I wouldn't mind if this fight would happen, even better than Rios-Provo (which seems like won't happen), Provo seems to be banned by TR newly and I think his exclusive contract with HBO has been expired (or I know it wrong?) so make it happen. Or Provodnikov-Matthysse.

Prov is so overrated for someone whose done absolutely nothing to warrant it.

Broner and Ortiz and both guys are not great at all.

Ruslan also actually has better amateur boxing background accomplishments than Maidana.

His only losses have been close controversial decisions.

I didn't see the Herrera or Bradley fights as controversial. Even if you count Bradley's slip as a KD he still won that fight. It was close but not controversial and the Herra fight I gave it to Herrera 116-112 if I remember well, that's not sure in turn I remember that I didn't hesitate about who won.
And the amateur carreer isn't count in the pro carreer so that's irrelevant.
Broner and Ortiz were overrated fighters but they are still easily better fighters (Ortiz maybe just was) than Provo's best win, Mike Alvarado. At least Broner was/is a good prospect with talent and at some point Ortiz looked like a good prospect as well, Alvarado never was that, he was always a limited C level guy I don't know if there were anyone thought otherwise.
So Ortiz, Broner > Mike Alvarado.
To other comments: Maybe Provo's chin is strong as rock but it means nothing if he gets a bad liver shot...
And Maidana's punching power also seems more serious than Provo's. Don't think that he has better punching power just because heis from Russia, I know that some people like these kinds of myths and tales but look at their stats instead. It doesn't tell everything but still tells a lot more than the "eyetest" (my favourite word here...), legends, myths and other kind of BS.

Maidana doesn't warrant hype but at least he's fought top class fighters and he's also beaten some. Provo has literally beaten no1 worth a damn and he has never even looked nearly as good as ppl claim. He gets hit by everything, his chin isn't that impressive, and his face falls apart rather easily. And u wanna believe he beats maidana? I don't see it.
