Comments Thread For: Maidana: Press Pressured Mayweather To Do Rematch

Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31KOs) is hungry to score a career-defining victory over WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This past May, Maidana gave Mayweather a lot of trouble in the ring but ultimately lost a twelve round majority decision. Now with a longer training camp, he hopes to close the book on Mayweather's unbeaten streak.

Do you just believe anything thats said on face value , all this stuff is out of context and made a thread off , like they blurt sht out of the blue , every statement can be made to look anyway when its out of context , off course the media influenced Floyd , so did a lot of things , these people a very shrewd businessmen , Arum is a Harvard Lawyer he does the same stuff with his fighters daily .

I crack me self up , now Im answering some kid called El Blanco haha lol .

Fights Devon Alexander's leftovers twice, but won't fight Pacquiao once.

Is it me or have Maidaina and his team brought nothing but drama since the fight ended? Its something new every week? I like Garcia but they seem like they have alot of built in excuses already and thats not good going into the fight. Everday they complaining or crying about something. Why even sign the contract? Just my honest opinion. Not really a knock on Maidana but it may be hard to get a big fight if he loses this one.

I would say lack of real viable alternatives would be the main reason for an immediate rematch, I think in his last 3 fights Floyd would have rematched Maidana in one of them but I only think it is this next fight because what else could be done.

Maidana did well enough and there were calls by Showtime crew right away for a rematch, so that seed was planted right away.

The last 12 months worked out really well for Maidana. He certainly did his part and deserves everything he has gained.
