    Is no longer being a Floyd Mayweather fan a sign of maturity?

    Note: I'm not talking about Anti-Floyd trolls/haters either.

    If you do a background check on my circa 2007-2008 posting days, you will notice me to be a Floyd fan. A nuthugger if you will. I was in my early 20's, heck I even listened to Hardcore Rap. My grammar also wasn't up to snuff. But things have changed. You know - as you get older you get wiser, get a better job, your politics change slightly as well. And so on and so forth.

    But what about the new generation of Floyd fans? Are they just a bunch of degenerates stuck on being permanently ****** or what? A bunch of E-criminals and E-thugs with a slight touch of Afrocentrism. Do we blame the rise of Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram as well as smarthphones) for this dumbification? We probably have 40 year old Floyd fans on here who cannot be distinguished from the 20 year old ones.

    What sociopolitical factors are there to consider?

      It depends how you like Floyd, Do you like him for what he does in the ring and you like his Boxing skills, Its mature. If you like him for other stuff, then it's immaturity, and if you like him for both, It is neither or it is both.

        U know what's a sign of maturity? Not acting like these guys are role models. And treat them for what they are, boxers. And Floyd is one of the best when it comes to that. So why shouldn't u be a fan? What he does on the ring is one in some million level talent.

            Good post. In my opinion anyone who doesn't like what Floyd does in the ring is not a true boxing fan, same with people who claim not to like Pacquiao's fighting style. But you can appreciate them as fighters without being a fan of them outside of the ring.

                No, you can appreciate their talents.

                But I'm also talking about NOT ROOTING for him. Are you saying that one isn't a true Boxing fan unless they root for Floyd, even though they don't like what he does outside the ring?

                  Oh no not at all. I'm just saying true boxing fans should appreciate the way he fights. I personally don't care one way or the other if Floyd wins his fights or not, but I enjoy watching what he can do in the ring.

                    Throughout history, there has been numerous boxers who have been horrible human beings outside of the ring, and yet they were beloved by fans and considered great. Ali, Robinson, Monzon, Tyson, Lamotta. All atga. All horrible human beings at times. It's boxing. There guys are what they are.
