I agree with that. It's kind of similar to matthyse as well. Kovalev, golovkin and matthyse all have good skills but they aren't versed in every single aspect of the game. They have the skills necessary to fully make use of their strengths, which in this case is power. They still have way better skills than your average puncher though, they can cut off the ring pretty well and that's something which a good few top fighters are lacking in today

Man he's worse than margo for that! He should be banned from the sport. When it happened to cotto everyone went nuts but now y'all aren't doing anything because he with floyd.

          They're just haters.

Oh man telegraphed shots. Think they know about boxing. I've seen countless comments in videos of pros shadow boxing where people say "he's better watch out, he's telegraphing all his shots."

Golovkin doesn't belong in that conversation.

Golovkin is a skilled fighter. He has one of the best jabs in the sport, good footwork, good technique, cuts off the ring as well as anyone in the sport, he's a very good boxer with power. Kovalev and Matthysse are power punchers with complementary boxing skill.

                  Pathetic...
If next week Roberto Ortiz upsets Matthysse you will figure out from that match somehow again, how skillfull are Kovalev and GGG?
In your logic if you fight on the back foot, try to do the shoulder roll , move everywhere in the ring, ur the more skillled fighter. For u fanboy logic if u not fighting this way, ur not skilled. Funny u. The guy just got beat up by a very limited fighter. He got punched more often and got ko. Its not like it was a flash KO. Medina started to take over in round 2. Punch stats doesnt show he got great skills... Fanboy

Matthyse has shown to have decent footwork and he can catch punches pretty well. Golovkin is brilliant at cutting off the ring and has a good jab. Of course he has good technique but a lot of punchers at this level do. He isn't a master technician, at least we haven't seen enough to tell yet. But you don't get as far as kovalev did in the amateurs without some skill. Matthyse I'll admit has a good few flaws but golovkin totally belongs in that conversation. I like golovkin and think he has all the tools but it's still too early to tell how good he is. He's never faced a technician like ward (who I'll admit appears to be ducking and has been a bit hypocritical). His jab is good but it's not exactly fast. Someone with faster hands and movement could really give him trouble.
