Comments Thread For: Hopkins: Kovalev No Hype, Brings Double Barrel *******

IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32KOs) is expecting a very, very dangerous fight on November 8th, when he unifies with WBO champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs) at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Kovalev has never gone beyond the eight round, because he stops most opponents by the seventh.

Dam do this feel like Pavlik all over again. I wonder what Bhop sees in Kovalev to think he can pull it out...... again. Kovalev is a beast, but it's so hard to bet against Bhop.....even at fuccking 50! I'm thinking if anyone can knock Bhop this should be the perfect storm to make it happen with his age, Kovalev power....youth.....come forward style.....dam i can't wait.

I will say this. If Hopkins cannot beat Kov, he will not get stopped. Maybe in a technical sense, but he will go out on his own terms. Faked Low Blow, Fake hitting behind the head. He will fake some type of floor flopping to get out of it.

... You mean he would pull a Grover Young "technical draw" in the 2nd or the 3rd round?
Of that I'm afraid, to be honest...

i really have to take my hat off to the alien.
At the age of 50 he is willing to fight anyone, he is a great example of a warrior and a throwback to the real champions of yesteryear...oh yeah he is a champion of yesteryear..........

If only Duckballs Mayweather had this kind of courage. He wouldnt be technically undefeated ("technically" because he lost to Castillo, De La Hoya and Maidana) anymore but he would have respect. The money will be gone in 5 years regardless.

Not just anyone... In fact Hopkins was caught with the back against the wall by IBF -- they wanted him to face his mando, in case he doesn't take a unification bout... And the unification bouts were available with Stevenson and Kovalev only... Hopkins managed to set up the Kovalev fight in the very last day of IBF's request -- with Stevenson giving no answer... And it also was the GBP-HBO "reconciliation in the line... with a view to a possible Cotto vs Canelo on Cinco de mayo 2015...
Therefore Hopkins' choice was a bit directed by context...

I guess most people anticipate Hopkins to decision Kovalev rather easily. This is indeed an exciting fight.
