Prove themselves? Robert Guerrero, Victor Ortiz and Marcos Maidana had to beat one bum with the initials of A.B to get the fight with you Floyd. That's not much proving.
Proving is destroying and annihilating the same opponents you faced in a better win fashion, but then you just say "he's fighting my leftovers".
