Comments Thread For: Algieri Warns Pacquiao: I Hit Harder Than People Think

WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri who faces “fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao at a catch-weight of 144 pounds in a clash for Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight title in Macau on November 22 says his punching power should not be underestimated simply because he has only 8 knockouts in 20 wins and remains undefeated.

In an exclusive overseas telephone interview with krikya360.com/Manila Standard/Viva Sports, the articulate Algieri said “I hit harder than people think” and claimed even Russian beast Ruslan Provodnikov, whom he beat by a split decision to win the 140 pound title last June 14, felt his power and so have his sparring partners.

Does Provo ever give another fighter credit? He always is quick to say "I dont feel anything" Im sure Algieri hurt him because it hurts getting punched in the face.

Well good, because people think you don't hit hard at all.

In before hectari's obligatory "Algieri by KO".

I don't doubt he has power, at this stage of Manny's career anyone can knock him out, his chin is probably the worst one in boxing at the high level.

Anyone who gets put to sleep the way he has doesn't have a strong chin. That is the honest truth. its just nature once someone gets knocked out that bad they no longer have the punch resistance.

you laugh at someone dropping honest truth?

At the highest level of the sport the top 10 or top 25 pound 4 pound best guys in the sport, Pacquiao has the worst chin.

Name a guy in the top 25 with a worse chin than Pacman.

Don't say Wlad because he has never been put to sleep, his knockouts came from him gassing out.

Nobody else says Algieri has power, maybe he's confusing power with precision. A well placed shot and lots of them can cause damage. Like Chinese water torture, drip, drip, drip.

I laugh at someone honestly dropping some of the dumbest nonsense possible.

Taking monster shots for years and not even touching the canvas > being knocked out cold by a perfectly timed counter shot he literally ran into. You have some sort of cartoonish idea of how knockouts work, and they just don't work that way. You must be really young.

Pacquiao hasn't faced a Decent puncher. "Decent" as somone with "skills"(not Rios). Just guys with no power since he last faced JMM.
                  Must be a confidence thing.

Why are people still in denial about Pacman's glass chin? he was lucky to survive those fights against bigger guys because he was never hit flush with a punch he never saw coming, and he was bracing himself everytime they threw a shot so he could absorb the punch better, also mot of the punches were grazing arm shots.

JMM that was juiced up or supplemented up with huge muscles had enough power to finally drop Pacman, but he showed that Pac cant take a punch above 140.

Alvarado was never knocked out cold and he took an even more powerful right hand than Pac took from JMM.

Now name a top 20 p4p fighter who has a worse chin than Manny?
