The article says Guillermo Rigondeaux challenged Leo SantaCruz to fight and Leo is scheduled to fight on September 13th, yet he doesnt have an opponent but says that he is willing to fight Rigondeaux tomorrow, why not schedule the fight for September 13th and get it over with already? I'm tired of hearing about this and other fights and fighters saying that they are willing to fight whoever and this and that yet fights never come to fruition even the ones they specifically say they will take.

Just make the fight happen already, prove that you're the best while at the same time giving the fans what we want.

I partially agree with this position but I understand that what we are witnessing here this summer is politics and positioning for the business that is boxing by both managerial teams, Team Rigondeaux and Team Santa Cruz.

The best move would be for Rigo to sign with Golden Boy this week or failing that with TMT and get on that September Mayweather vs Maidana PPV against some Hispanic TBA and look impressive with an entertaining stoppage . . .


then do the post-fight interview call out LSC and have a face off at the post-fight press conference as well provided of course that LSC takes out his TBA in an impressive showing too.

They could build the fight reasonably quickly for the beginning of next year
in my opinion or do it as co-main event on Mayweather's annual Cinco De Mayo PPV show. A short three fight deal is all it would likely require for TMT or Golden Boy to make this fight a reality.


But it would be pre-mature to put this fight on in September when all it would take to build it properly is a little patience and planning. It should not happen before the American audience has had a chance to see the "new Rigo" now that he has been freed from Top Rank . . . one fight vs TBA is all that would really take and then start hyping it for the new year.

You have a point . . . Team Rigo should sign with Golden Boy for a quick three fight deal . . . by whatever feasible compensation can be secured

That should happen this week at the absolute latest and then we will all know that the fight is legit for all the parties concerned in the foreseeable future . . . Sept in not a necessity though they both could fight some no-name James from Iowa-Ames or Slow Joe from Boise, Idaho respectively and then call each other out during the post-fight interviews and post-fight conference. From there it is easy to see the fight grow in public demand for 2015 and with both signed to Showtime aligned Golden Boy promotions it would be a no-brainer.

The only question is does Golden Boy Promotion and Al Haymon try to frustrate this fight from coming to fruition by deliberately lowballing Carribe Promotions and forcing them to go in a different direction with some other business deal.

It is NOT plausible for the September PPV date that TMT has . . . but they should build it by both fighting on the undercard against whoever TMT is willing to afford for the peanuts they will pay but then build it in the post-fight presser for the very next fight TMT or Golden Boy is willing to PPV as a co-main,

The only 2 names worth mentioning on Rigondeaux's resume are Nonito Donaire and Joseph Agbeko. Is it a coincidence that Rigondeaux doesn't have a K.O. against top level competition? No, it's not. It's harder to K.O. top level competition. Not to take anything from Rigondeaux, but HIS POWER IS NOT AS GREAT AS YOU SAY IT IS. So are you saying that the flawless master boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux cannot cut off a ring? How else would they be able to run?

Or is it that Rigondeaux doesn't cut off the ring to go after the K.O. because he does not want to risk being caught when he opens up because he has a glass chin?

After watching that Donaire fight ad nauseum I don't see how anyone can attest that Rigo has a glass chin. He was hit solidly enough in the fourth round to certify that his chin is championship quality.
