Comments Thread For: Team Cotto: Golovkin Not Yet in Majors, Fight Premature

Gaby Peñagarícano, the legal adviser to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO's), plans to sit down with his client in the month of August to discuss his next opponent for a planned return in December.

Peñagarícano also responded to some recent comments from Abel Sanchez, trainer of IBO/WBA champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KO's).

In a recent interview on krikya360.com, Sanchez called for a fight between Golovkin and Cotto. He says Cotto should fight a real middleweight opponent or vacant his title and return to 154-pounds.

Cotto is an established world class fighter while GGG is still trying to be one. I agree the fight makes no sense with Canelo and his fan base out their.

PPV is becoming synonymous with prima donna. As in a PPV fighter is a prima donna fighter.

Is that gonna be on Showtime or HBO? Top Rank and Golden Boy promoting this together?

Doesn't make financial sense right now. Anyway Cotto has to fight Rubio if he wants to keep that belt. If I remember right Rubio took some step aside money for the cotto/Martinez fight to go through.
