Comments Thread For: Hearn Gets Macklin WBC Eliminator, Aims For Cotto

Matthew Macklin will face WBC International champion Jorge Sebastien Heiland in an official eliminator for the WBC Middleweight title held by Miguel Cotto at the National Stadium in Dublin on August 30, live on Sky Sports – with tickets on sale from 9am on Tuesday July 22.

Macklin is back in action for the first time since December and can take a huge step towards facing the Puerto Rican legend if he can see off Heiland, the 27 year old Heiland who is ranked at number four with the WBC and won the WBC International title in November with a fifth round KO of Billi Godoy in his native Argentina.

Macklin is ranked at nine in the division and is chomping at the bit to get back into the ring and has set his sights on a showdown with Cotto.

Who knows if the WBC will enforce it.... The old boss wouldn't have... This is a puzzler of an eliminator... It can't be a final eliminator. Murray vs macklin would be the final and Rubio gets dibs before them

Every fight these days is an eliminator. So much bullocks. Rubio is the interim champion and murray is the silver champ. So surely they are ahead of him so how is this a final eliminator. The WBC dont ever force mandatorys anyway. Some bull****.

This is his fourth title chance at the same weight class, somehow not too many people complain, let's also not forget that horrible performance vs GGG. Curtis Stevens had more guts than him.

Why doesn't he go back of the line after all those chances and win the British and European titles and may be then can there be talks about a quarter-final eliminator for a semi-final eliminator, so he can get a final eliminator for the Silver International title.

Cotto is not fighting nobody named Mayweather Alvarez, Bradley or Golovkin.
