HBO Pay-Per-View will carry the fight.

Algieri became a frontrunner for Pacquiao when he scored an unexpected twelve round split decision victory over the heavily favored Ruslan Provodnikov last month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

This fight stinks on more than one level. They are fighting for Manny's WW belt. Algieri has a LWW belt that he was gifted. Chris has nothing to lose, but Manny risks it all. Who is Algieri? Some unknown who ran from Provo and got a hometown decision? Now he gets a big PPV fight with the #2 PPV draw in the world? Manny better kick this clown's ass, or never show his face again!!

Chris can move like Lara and everyone who has criticized Pac will tell you this is a stylistic problem for Manny, he can;t fight movers.

Chris is like Lara the ultimate mover, gotta give Pac mad respect and props for taking on a hungry young undefeated guy like Chris, he is giving some new blood a shot at least and a guy who presents him huge problems in the ring.

They should make this on Regular HBO though not PPV. treat the fans Arum, give us one free fight with Pacqiuao, like you used to do with Oscar from time to time.

This is such an awful fight and an awful matchup by Arum.

          This is completely lose lose.

Algieri may be inexperienced, feather fisted etc, but he is tall and rangy and could potentially be one of those fights where Pac doesn't look so good.

Wtf is Arum doing with this BS.

The PAC-Algieri fight will be at 144lb I think. Do I think this fight is great? No,.. It has very little hype if any. Although stylistically, it is interesting.

I personally think it should either be half price PPV,...or part of proceeds should go to charity... or free on HBO. That would have been a nice move from PAC and Top Rank.
They all have beaten top ww's, thats how they climbed the ladder. Algieiri has beaten no ww's.

TR and HBO are giving manny an easy payday while they wait for either floyd, jmm or for ODH to flesh out who will be GBP fighters. They don't want to risk manny losing before that and don't want their #1 fighter not fighting again in 2014.

Its a money grab fight. Any fighter would take a fight like this for this kind of money.

Manny always tries to give the fans what they want to see in the ring. BUT..as fans we/they want to see it against notable and worthy opponents. Not cab drivers or Doctors or sparring partners. Everyone knows he will press the action. Evryone knows how great of a fighter he is. Everyone knows he will leave nothing on the table and he gives his all in the ring. What everyone wants is to see that against fighters that are on that level of greatness. Or better. Yea, it's a money grab. But there weren't many options at the same time. (Don't think the Cold War is settled just yet). Marquez, Abregu, Provodnikov, and Alvarado.

Since JMM didn't like the ideal of Macau (can't blame him),... then Algieri, Abregu, Provo made the most sense.

I actually think this has all the makings of a barn burner. Algeiri has a pretty strong and timely degree that'll surely pose all kinds of problems for Pacquiao. His masters is pretty strong too; when paired with his niceness I can see him stopping Pacquiao at any time.

yeah but since when did manny ever put his foot down and pick the fighters the fans want? manny will always give a good show when its fight night but thats about it. when it comes to choices of opponents then its the usual its up to my promoter.
