Comments Thread For: David Haye is Open To Facing Alexander Povetkin

Former two-division world champion David Haye (26-2, 24KOs) is open to the idea of facing top heavyweight contender, and former champion, Alexander Povetkin (27-1, 19KOs).

Haye has been inactive since a 2012 TKO of Dereck Chisora. Two scheduled dates against Tyson Fury were called off by Haye. Povetkin returns in late May to score a knockout over Manuel Charr in seven rounds.

The British boxer was on the shelf for a several months after undergoing shoulder surgery. He now claims to be fully recovered and may return to the ring at the end of the year.

I don't believe he would fight someone of Povetkin caliber either. This is just the usual babble from Davey.

I like Haye when he´s actually in the ring. He also makes good observations about other fighters, but when he talks about his own fights it´s absolute BS. He´ll never fight Povetkin unless there´s a world title at stake. Would be a great 50/50 fight though.

I thought he'd go after someone easier like the overweight, faded Chagaev.
I like this fight for Haye, I think he can beat Povetkin.

I think it'd be a good fight still.

I know Davey's been inactive for a long time now but he no doubt stays in good form through training. He did look like he was going to be pretty awesome against Fury, before he pulled out (again).

Of course can't deny that Povetkin would be a tough opponent.

It'd be a surprise enough if this fight happens let alone Haye winning it.

It would be a good fight. As usual the klitto-***uals are on here talking about Haye.

I think they are afraid of the very likely outcome - that Haye will look 1 million times better against Povetkin than their hero did.
