I would say so. I don't think everyone tuned in to see Crawford, they tuned in to watch an interesting fight. It turned out to be one hell of a show. I understand HBO wants Gamboa back.

He deserves to be back. Like I said in another post, if that guy was knocked down 100 times he would get back up every time if they allowed it, he has that kind of a fighting heart. Solid skills.....he can work on one or two things and still make some noise in boxing. He clearly showed the heart of a champion and that is what matters most.

HBO clearly knows what they're doing. Crawford already outselling Ward at gate and views.

Haymon and Mayweather Promotions are moving in the direction over the hill (doesn't look like peaches and cream after Floyd's retirement, unless he gives Mayweather-Pacquiao to HBO as a form of asking forgiveness).
HBO is just bigger in terms of their number of subscribers, but as a platform they're essentially the same, equal to Showtime in being media providers.

The reason that HBO makes bigger stars is because of their collaboration with TopRank and/or collaborating promoters. As many members have posted, paraphrasing Field of Dreams' signature catchphrase "If you build it they will come," if you put on the exciting fights that the fans want, they will watch. The suits at HBO and TopRank intelligently build up fighters by making intriguing matchups that fans can get excited about. It's all intelligent matchmaking in addition to the ability to think outside the box in planning for future success and growing future markets.

HBO ditched Haymon because they were no longer going to be conned into his agenda of getting his fighters the maximum pay for the least amount of risk. How many people feel that Showtime is now regretting signing a deal with the devil? Classic bait & switch deal. They started out with great fights, but now it's back to maximum payday for least amount of risk...stars in mismatch fights with long odds.

Garcia vs Salsa? War Showtime! LOL
