Comments Thread For: Huge Show in Riga: Toney and Jones Jr. in the Mix

Latvian promoter Andrejs Platonovs, together with well-known Eastern European impresario Oleg Bogdanov, is planning a major show on July 26 at the Skonto Stadium in Riga, Latvia. A star-studded evening of international boxing will most probably feature two legendary ex-champions Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney in their next fights.

The local star of the show will be top-notch Latvian cruiserweight Mairis Briedis (11-0, 9 KOs), who is set for twelve against rugged Ugandan Joey Vegas (16-8-1, 9 KOs).

That's just terrible. I found it ironic when Roy was commenting about Sergio, and how a fighter should know when to hang them up.

I'm sure if Roy and James both win, they will rematch in the fall.. I'm surprised it's not on this card. I have heard over the past few months they were being offered the fight in Latvia

But I honestly doubt james toney as enough left to beat this 6-10 giant no matter how limited he is..

james toney is further past it then jones, but both are fighting way way way past there expiration date.

imagine mosley 5 years from now. thats how past it these 2 are.

Toney and jones are clowns. They are blown up heavyweights getting beat regular while bhop is unified world champ. Just show were looking after yourself does.

Jones-Toney II - the rematch eeeeeeveryone wants to see, 20 years in the making. :laff:

Admittedly I was keen on Jones-Hopkins II at the time (shitty fight which nonetheless had to happen), but the thought of Jones-Toney II is just horrific. It was so sad to watch the latter stumbling and staggering around the ring against Lebedev in 2011.
