Comments Thread For: Willie Monroe Jr. Wants a Crack at Gennady Golovkin

New York native Willie Monroe Jr. (18-1, 6KOs) burst onto the scene by winning the Boxcino middleweight tournament on May 23rd by defeating the then undefeated Brandon Adams.

Monroe hopes to parlay his success in the tournament into a title shot. He said that he thinks WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin will successfully defend his titles on July 26th when he takes on former champ Daniel Geale and said that he would have no problems facing Golovkin in the near future.

Wouldn't mind seeing him in there with Solimon and seeing how he handles that energy and his clinch in the inside

Props to Willie. I don't think this is a good fight for him right now though. Soliman wouldn't be a bad fight. He has skills and potential, but GGG is too much right now.

Trip would shorten his career, he should gradually work his way up. Like Houg is saying, face someone like Soliman first. Gotta commend him though for uttering those words lol

Doubt he would even take the fight if it was offered. PR statement

I think even Solimon would be a difficult champ for him. Maybe try unifying the Boxino belt with the WBO

lol Willie's crazy. I like the kid a lot, but he may never be ready for a guy like GGG.

My heart would be pulling for Willie the whole way if it happens. I admire his determination but I hope he gets a title against someone else for now and makes some money first. Someone made a list recently of boxers who are great guys and this guy should be on the list. Everybody loves Willie.....I would hope....he is someone worth pulling for.

These guys are out here already trying to capitalize off of GGG's rising popularity. It's only going to get worse from here on out...

Both Soliman and GGG outclass him and knock him out...
                    WAAY over his head here.
