Cotto is ageing really well. Didn't expect him to get faster and stronger like this at the end of his career. Truly remarkable. Turns out everybody was wrong all along. Martinez is actually a chinless, soft to the body weakling and Cotto is a direct relative of Jack Dempsey.. Superhuman strength and power.. Like instantly. Overnight.. Again, just remarkable.

I love both fighters but I thought Martinez would win by K.O. I even said his reach and "footwork" would make the difference but i stand corrected. Cotto shined once again and surprised me as a fan. Great defence, nice combos, good offence and cutting Sergio off, i was especially at awe when he worked Sergio's legs. He knew how and when to pressure and when to let Sergio run around and tire himself out. His punches were dangerous and every punch was thrown with authority. Sadly Sergio is on his way out and i am grateful for his accomplishments in the ring. I'm glad the best man won tonight and I'm excited about Cotto's future bouts. Bitter sweet evening for me tonight, hope the best for Sergio and if his body really affects him in ring i think he should hang them up. Good night of fighting. La Leyenda De Cotto Continua!

Not the knee, try again!
If anyone thinks Martinez loss because of his knee, then you haven't seen his last three fights and you don't know ..ish about boxing or fighting for that matter.
The first 2 knock downs had nothing to do with Martinez' knee, Cotto caught Martinez with good shots. The third knock down you could tell Martinez was bothered getting up. However if you were watching Martinez' last 3 or 4 fights you can see his lower body movement was stiff and he rarely bent his knees. Martinez' movement in this fight was not much different. The reality is Martinez had been laid for over 1.5 years, he didn't spar at all in training camp and his timing was off from the first bell. He looked slower then Cotto because Cotto's timing was insane for this fight. Now we are talking about a fighter who even Mayweather said was difficult to time. There is no way you can get timing down with mitt work speed and punching bags and so on.
Cotto was the better trained fighter tonight, and he was also severely underestimated by Martinez and his corner, for them to really think not sparring was a good decision. I have already watched the fight twice (DVR BABY) and compared Martinez's movement to his fights against Mauray and Jr, and he looks the same. it is a mute point because most times Cotto caught Martinez was when Martinez began to punch not when Martinez was moving. TIMING.

Pathetic performance by Martinez. Anybody could have knocked him down multiple times last night, he was THAT bad. Sad that Cotto is now being made out to be one of the ATG with that kind of performance/win. That heavy back is going to get his ass whooped again soon enough.
