Someone please make a" And then they said, Floyd's gonna ko Maidana" meme.
People keep thinking Maidana is a soft noodle of some sort because Khan KD with a great body shot. They forget he then got up and beat the sht out of him. They forget Ortiz KD as well only to get KD himself much worse not 5 seconds after Chino got up. Styles make fights got said time and again before the Broner fight, only to get mauled in the ring by the supposedly slower and less skilled Maidana. Floyd scratched a W thanks to his defense. If Pac comes out swinging and trading his in for a war and Chino is all about war.

I think it's a competitive fight. Maidana has a jab that can stop PAC in his tracks. And he has game in the center of the ring. If he wins, he wins the fight on the ropes though. Corner PAC on the ropes, and find his range, and drop his hands on Pac

See, he smothered a lot of his work against Floyd because that was his best shot, overall, of throwing shots Floyd couldn't see, though he did have some success against Floyd in the center of the ring.

Against PAC the key would be for Maidana to find his range after cutting off the ring on PAC. Use the jab as a rangefinder and drop the right hand with full leverage. Then crank the left hook to the body and head.

Bradley's gameplan against PAC in the rematch is actually a viable option for Marcos Maidana. Go in to knock the guy clean out. If he lands with any consistency from a proper range, he can
The thing to is that people forget that Maidana got scooled/embarassed by southpaw devon alexander, and nearly got put out by amir khan. Even though khan was running second half.
Maidana is indeed an animal but if pac can still take shots and dedicated to boxing he takes it unanimous decision or tko because of busted up face.

Nobody forgets, it's just that it takes a real ignorant person to not realize that he is a completely different fighter, the devon and khan fights have zero bearing on what would happen today. Zero.

Dude get off of Maidana's balls and look at the fight from an objective lens. When you do that you'll see why everyone else in this thread thinks this is a horrid match-up for Chino.

Only way to prove that is by stepping back in the ring with Alexander and Khan. Sadly he doesn't want to do that, he is improved but not as improved as he's made out to be.

The first sentence.. you can see everything coming.. no not really. He took the p4p #1 through a war and landed several respectable shots in the center of the ring..His jab is actually pretty quick and very authoritative, it's what prevented Mayweather from having a field day with him in the latter half of their fight. Maidana has success in fights not only because of grit and power, but because he can alternate between straight and wide punches and has a very nice jab. His in ring cunning is also underestimated as all getout.

I'm willing to discuss Devon to a point. About that I would say Maidana had not yet learned his lesson about that particular brand of fighter and not to give an inch, even in the clinch. Overshadowing such a conversation, however, is the irrefutable fact that for a menagerie of reasons, Maidana was clearly not at his best that night. I assumed we were talking Maidana would be fighting Pac at or around the same level and intensity he fought Floyd. No?

If Floyd does indeed go a different route and opts to not fight Maidana, this would be a very entertaining fight. Regardless of who wins I don't think I'll have to worry about getting my money's worth.
