Kind of agree, Was looking at his record a couple days ago and thought as far as names go its pretty thin for someone as highly regarded as Martinez. Not saying he's not a legit champion and he wasn't avoided but his biggest names are
Margarito, Cintron, Williams, Pavlik, Chavez Jr That's not very deep list.

      Gift win against Murray.

      Pavlik was washed up.

      Margarito derailed him.

Overall average champion. Cotto is gonna hound him.

EDIT ***im not comparing Martinez' resume to Cottos. I'm just jabbing at him for future posters.
I personally think Sergio beat Williams in that first match.

Yep. Martinez was one of those guys that was truly ducked, not just ducked in the minds of fans who don't like someone.

I think Cotto has the better resume. Cotto beat Mosley,Judah,Quintana,Malignaggi,Corley,Bailey and Torres. Lost competitive fights to Mayweather, Trout and Margaritio and lost comprehensively to Pacquaio. If Pavlik is Sergio best then it's not even a Contest, Mosley in 2007 was a far better fighter p4p than Pavlik. Williams? Quintana beat him. I'd say Cotto's win over a prime Paulie is a better win than Pavlik

            I thought Mosley won tbh

I dont remember but I might agree... I remember it being VERY close.

Shane was already considered old, too...

And someone said Paulie a better win? Lol. Cotto's best win is an older Shane. Martinez's best win was either P Will or the lineal champ at 160 in Pavlik ... Some might consider both of those fighters better than Cotto.

Personally I think P Will would have laid a beat down on Cotto.. I think Sergio has a better resume, not really close tbh in terms of quality (not name recognition) Cotto has fought better fighters but lost...

I think in a free for all, the guys Sergio beat down the ones cotto beat lol

Before 2008 and before Alex Bunema he fought nobody. He is a great fighter but his resume doesn't reflect it. Especially early.

I like his wins over Williams, Chavez, Pavlik, Dzinzurik, Murray and also Barker.

He could indeed have some better wins, but those opponents wanted nothing to do with fighting the Martinez of 2012 and before.... and that includes Miguel.
