Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez Feels Healthy, Not Worried about Layoff

Sergio Martinez's last two fights haven't done anything to improve his legacy as his Hall of Fame career winds down.

He beat the tar out of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for 11 rounds in 2012, but was nearly knocked cold in Round 12 and barely made it to the finish line.

In his lone fight last year, he struggled to a decision over Martin Murray. Martinez was also dropped in that bout, and many observers thought Murray deserved the nod.

Good legs on fight night equal Cotto down and out.

bad legs equal his butt getting owned.

Can't believe Martinez was on crutches for 9 months after the knee surgeries.

Cotto has a great chance to take this fight.

I'm guessing that's a mistranslation or he misspoke. 9 months is way too long. Probably meant weeks.

i think cotto has aged better than martinez.

still worried about cotto's punch resistance.

he's been getting rocked and hurt since his days at 140. i dont know how he will take a punch from a middleweight despite how old and washed up martinez maybe.

i really dont know who to favor in this fight.

That's my only worry cotto being able to take Sergio's punch.

I thought so too but nope, 1 minute into the vid he said it was 9 months.

Maybe he meant to say 9 weeks but the words out of his mouth were 9 months.
