Comments Thread For: Roach Wants Marquez To Win, Not Sure He Can

Freddie Roach wants Juan Manuel Marquez to beat Mike Alvarado on Saturday night.

The famed trainer just isn’t sure the Mexican legend will be able to do it, not after what he saw from Marquez during his loss to Timothy Bradley.

“It depends on which Marquez shows up – the one that fought Manny or the one that fought Bradley,” Roach told krikya360.com. “I’m not sure. But I think it’s a very good fight. I honestly think it’s about 50-50.”

people telling Floyd to beat everybody from 140 to 175 yet they have no problem with Pacquiao fighting the same guy 5 times, hypocrite bastards..the boxing gods will favor Alvarado to prevent that bull**** from taking place.

Marquez is old now but I still favor him over Mile High.

Hope Mike does it but I don't see it happening.

I think Alvarado pulls it off. He will be eager to prove his worth after his loss to Provodnikov. Alvarado was doing very well for the majority of that fight, and, despite the Pacquiao knockout, Marquez isn't the puncher Provodnikov is.

Nobody outside of Arum, Roach and HBO want a fifth fight. Which is why most polls i've come across have people picking Alvarado by huge margins just because 42 rounds were more than enough. Yet what does Floyd have to do with Manny? Each man has their own in-house issues with the network. We are quickly approaching the point where it's costing HBO and Showtime money to showcase them with little to no return on their investment...get ready to see the hands of power start putting pressure if their fall numbers are just as bad as the spring ones.

When you claim to be the best ever, expectations are set high.

I feel the same. One thing I haven't really been thinking about is if Alvarado is shot after so many wars. Very possible.

This should be a hard fight for both men.
