I like how Shaefer pretends that we built Golden Boy all by himself.
The fact is without Oscar De La Hoya's name attached to it Shaefer would be struggling much like 50 cent is with sms promotions.
Shaefer had all the advantages using Oscar's name to help him bring in fighters that otherwise wouldn't have given GBP a second look. If the company was called Richard Shaefer promotions it probably wouldn't even be around today no matter how smart Richard is...

Schaefer probably would not even be involved in the sport if not for Oscar, he would still be successful but most likely banking in Switzerland not even giving the boxing world a second thought.
