I just watched a bit of the press conference and man, Lara really needs to try and market himself better and promote this fight. He's got the perfect opportunity to play the villain here. I know it's possibly a cultural thing as Cubans, especially ones born into boxing, are almost militarized and lack personality from an outsider's point of view, but this is what it'll take to become a marketable commodity in boxing. Dude barely spoke a few words and just sat there fiddling with this phone. Hope his management is taking note and talks up the fight a bit more in the upcoming press tour dates. Anyways, I got Lara by decision in this one.
Lara takes this one. Canelo is a solid fighter, but he still has bad conditioning and he's only most effective when the opponent is either a come-forward fighter like Angulo or flat footed like Mosley. He's a very accurate puncher and has a lot of pop but he won't be able to do enough to beat Lara and it seems he gets frustrated at times when guys like Trout or Floyd don't stand still and let themselves be punching bags. Lara is not easy to hit, has that deadly straight left like Rigo and Canelo can't cut the ring off like Angulo did. Lara takes this no closer than 8-4 but it'll definitely be a great fight.
