Mayweather Sr saids the only way to beat Floyd....

By Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Sr. sees his son Floyd Jr. having a lot of problems trying to beat WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto in their fight next month on May 5th, according to the latest boxing news. Mayweather Sr. doesn’t think Cotto will win, but he believes that it’s going to be a really hard fight for Floyd Jr. because he’s older now and more vulnerable than he was in the past.

Mayweather Sr. said to ********boxing.com’s On the Ropes Boxing Radio program “I think Cotto will probably give little Floyd a better fight than any of the other guys in quite awhile. I’m not saying Cotto’s going to win.?br />
Mayweather Sr. added that he believes Floyd Jr. will have a problem eventually when he’s matched against a fighter that throws a lot of punches, someone younger. He said “His [Mayweather] trouble is going to be with a guy that’s consistently throwing punches…When he’s got someone that’s real, real busy, and that will more or less probably be a younger guy.?br />
Trainer Freddie Roach has said in the past that he likes the match-up between Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather, because he thinks Pacquiao would overwhelm Mayweather’s ability to counter punch enough by throwing 80+ punches per round to where Mayweather won’t be able to keep up. It sounded like a reasonable opinion back when Roach gave it over a year ago, but in looking at 38-year-old lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez, who isn’t as fast as Mayweather, counter punch Pacquiao all night long last November, it’s clear that Mayweather would have little problems with Pacquiao’s work rate.

Cotto could be a problem for Mayweather next month if Cotto comes into the fight weighing close to 170lbs. The weight limit is 154, so you got to figure that Cotto will put on at least 10 to 15 pounds of water weight after he rehydrates following the weigh-in the day before the fight. If he only puts on 10 pounds, that’s still a big 164 pound fighter Mayweather will be in with. And if Cotto comes in at 170, it’ll be difficult for Mayweather because he’s more of a welterweight than a true junior middleweight.

It is ancient, but doesn't change what he's said.

He's right, HOWEVER...we've seen punchers in there get gun shy and in a hurry.

It's got to be a guy with speed, and who's willing to eat leather, and not get gun shy in the process.

Maidana isn't afraid to trade, but I'm concerned he doesn't have the speed.

That's where Amir Khan comes into play. Young, lots of punches, willing to eat leather. His chin should hold up against Mayweather.

No haters tonight guys, I'm too tired.

Well looking back at it; Cotto did give Floyd problems. Maybe because he's naturally left handed? A veteran? Maybe because it was at JMW? Who knows.

Floyd won rounds but Cotto really made Floyd work that night. I really wish they'd have fought in 2008.

I think TS is trying to imply Maidana will give Floyd a tough fight, maybe but I really doubt it. Floyd won't lose more than 2 rounds.

            mayweather has underrated power :/..
            but at the same time...
khan's chin is overly exaggerated as being fragile as well :/..

Cottos style causes Floyd problems because he has a very good heavy jab. And he can box. But at 154 with 10oz gloves he couldn't hurt Floyd. Cottos problem is he's a bleeder. He gets busted up too easy.

its one of the reasons why Floyd/Pac was such an intriguing match up in early 2010. Manny was such a high volume guy it would have been interesting to see how Floyd would have adjusted to keep Manny from taking rounds from him. Now it would be a much different fight.
With this quote its no wonder why Floyd Sr. didn't want his son to take the fight even before all the juicing allegations.

Mannys power is the only thing that makes the fight intriguing. Floyd has a 5" reach advantage over Manny. Add that up with the lack of a decent jab it's an easy fight to predict. If you don't have a great jab your not beating Floyd.

if only fraud has the same confidence as his idiot fans probably the fight had been made 3 years ago. but fraud knows his shit better than anybody else. the idea of losing to pac outweighs his addiction to money... or in the other words, fraud is dead scared of fighting pac.
