It would be hilarious if Stevenson-Fonfara does worse. Then we could say for sure that Kovalev-Stevenson is the fight everyone wants to see.
I'd love to see Stevenson/his supporters try and claim that Kovalev isn't a big enough draw now.

Though over 1-million means that HBO should feel confident spending $$$ to get him the fights the fans deserve.

These ratings speak volumes about Kovalev's appeal, especially considering that there wasn't a noteworthy undercard or big name opponent for Kovalev.
The truth is, people like themselves a no nonsense fighter who takes it to the opposition, and that appeal is doubled when that fighter is undefeated and highly skilled.
When Stevenson opted to pass on Kovalev, Kovalev effectively passed him as the bigger draw.
Whoever advised Stevenson to do so should be fired.
A similar situation developed when Danny Garcia was pressured to fight Lucas Mattysse. And, it's obvious that Garcia would have preferred not to face Mattysse. But his handlers and advisers steered him to doing just that because they knew avoiding Mattysse would be even worse for him.
Stevenson went the opposite way and now he'll be taking a backseat to Kovalev. And, on top of that, he'll NEVER hear the end of the fact that he ducked him.
LOL

Genuinely surprised as well given that it's only his third HBO airing and he's received nowhere close to the push Golovkin has...Krusher is undoubtedly getting something right. When you're this involved in the boxing scene it's always hard to tell what the broader audience will think, but whatever Kovalev is doing is working, whether it's just the KOs or the Stevenson controversy or the 'Relentless Killer Russian' perception, that's high figures. As was pointed out earlier - also hopefully good for boxing as a whole.
