Comments Thread For: Thurman Following The Golovkin Strategy, Says Schaefer

When Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer announced Keith Thurman's finalized opponent for April 26th, a number of boxing fans were critical of Golden Boy's selection.

Thurman (22-0, 20KOs) will defend his WBA interim-welterweight title at the StubHub Center in Carson against veteran, and former champion, Julio Diaz (40-9-1, 29KOs).

This also probably means Thurman could be headlining his own card by late this year...maybe even in Florida

I'm starting to feel bad for Thurman. This guys deserves a shot with somebody, he deserves a chance to make some good money more than most of these WW. Schaefer already said it has been hard to find an opponent. I think after this year, he should start droppin names of the people that are scared to fight him

Most of these guys are with Schaeffer, he's just not matching them.

We all know this is rubbish. They just wanted to feed a less tough opponent to Thurman because his name was never mentioned with all the big fights from the beginning.

Then have him fight more often Schaefer, the public are hungry for more Thurman fights, he's the kind of fighter you'd watch against anyone because you know a KO is coming.

One thing's he's seemed to do since being shown on tv is call guys out.

3-4 times a year against solid opposition is legit. So long as he isn't fighting guys moving up in weight with a 2% chance of surviving. Or career journeymen or guys that build up a resume in a certain region against tough man competition type guys. I like this idea. Do what ggg did last year except against decent to real good competion til he gets(earns) that shot.
