thread for NON- manny pacquiao fans

i must admit, im a filipino and a die hard fan of Manny Pacquiao....but i posted this thread because i want to know the opinion of people who are not fans of PACMAN so that i would solicit a relatively fair and unbiased answer. Do u believe that Jorge Barrios, the other superfeatherweight champion is afraid of Pac??

This question of mine arose after hearing those comments of BARRIOS that MAB is bigger than PAC because MAB is a legend and Pac is not. Okay, probably the legendary Barrera has more achievements than PAC, as of now. But let us be objective.I mean come on, it doesnt take a genius to figure out that a BARRIOS fight with PAC will generate more $$$ than a BARRIOS fight with MAB. Everyone has his/her motivations of doin somethin and money is one of them. You wont kill yourself in training and in the ring just to beat a legend. You do it in order to earn a decent living for yourself and your family.I guess with the exception of several lucky fighters( and i guess BARRIOS is not one of them),most of them boxers need some cash and they have to fight in order for them to have it. We must admit tnat PAC is one of the hottest stuff right now in boxing and a fight with BARRIOS will be more profitable for BARRIOS.

In part, I think a PAC-BARRIOS fight is what is the best for all the parties concerned including us fight fans. Point is, im tired of seeing PAC against his previous opponents. I want somethin new for him. Larios fight is new, but come on, Larios is coming off from a loss to his arch rival Vasquez(TKO at that) and to top it all, he is climbing up 2 division heavier to fight a fighter(PAC) who "destroyed" a pound for pound and fututre Hall of Famer in Eric Morales in 130 lbs!!!.Without sounding subjective, this PAC- Larios should it happens, will be a blowout admit it or no.(with due respect to Larios who is also a great fighter and I hope he doesnt get hurt because the guy seems to be a nice guy and just want to earn a lot of bucks to see him through after he retires.) With regard to MAB, BARERRA should fight PAC in his last or maybe 2nd to the last fight of his career.Should Barrera win then good for him, he preserved his status as an elite fighter of all time and avenged his defeat, not to mention justify, in one way or another, his reasons for his 1st loss to PAC.Should he lose, then it has been a rewarding career for him financially speaking, because of all the earnings he got from his stellar career plus the fights he would make prior to another PAC encounter. But if he fights PAC now, he could very well lose a lot of money in future fights, should he lose to pac then retire.

With regard to Morales, Eric should do away with PAC because such fight/rematch, whether win or lose, is bad for his health.Style wise both fighters will just destroy each other.I mean they just have so much pride in them, that they could very well kill each other if they must in order to win.1-1 against PAC is not bad at all.

I guess the best way for PAC to cement his legacy as a HOF is to unify the belts at 130 lbs.Financially speaking, the promoters would be willing to pay him a good sum of money because to date, he is one of the most exciting fighter to watch.Just like Atruro"thunder" Gatti. He need not fight elite fighters to gain the interest of fight fans. Admit it or not.He need not fight Barrera,Morales or Marquez to earn a lot of $$$.This is where Barrios will come in to the picture.

I guess PAC's promoters could have considered Barrios as a next opponent for PAC and could have offered him a fight. Moreover, if i were Barrios i could have challenge PAC after he beat Morales. I mean, Barrios could have a chance to earn a lot of money and be part of the elite group of fighter should he beat PAC.But to my dismay, Barrios challenged MAB.Which leads me now to the conclusion that Barrios might, (Please take note of the word, "MIGHT")be afraid of PAC.

Please i need your thoughts to be objective irregardless of who you are rooting for, nationality, and caprices

Afraid not. Afraid to lose. Yes.

              I am not a pac-hater, but I am not even a pac-fan (well I am a pac-fan, a morales fan, a barrera fan, a mayweather fan, a hatton fan... I am a boxing fan, I like most fighters and even those I don't like i heartily respect.

I think what you say makes a lot of sense, and I can also see why you ask this to non-pac fans. (don't wanna start a feud here but some of you are a bit "overexcited", indeed)

now in a perfect world where fighters fight because of their fighting spirit, barrera should rematch pac straight away. but fighters live like us: buy things using money just like us, they have families.

and one thing, talent-wise, pac is miles ahead of gatti (I am not sure you were implying this kind of comparison, but just in case).

Have you seen Barrios fight? I don't think so.

Barrios has a hairline chance of winning with his slugging ways, no footwork, limited jabbing and bad shot selections.

Barrios is just a B-level fighter. It may be harsh, but it's a fact.

Also unifying the belts isn't the best way for PAC. Beating elites up is the best way of solidifying your HOF status. Belts I think are losing their appeal now. And it has become more of a useless commodity.

Barrios is best known for his losing bid for the WBO and WBA SuperFeather titles vs. Acelino Freitas. He knocked Popo down in the 8th, then, both exchanged KDs in the 11th. Freitas finally put a stop to the contest in the final round.

He finally got the WBO crown via a TKO4 over Mike Anchondo. Anchondo was crowned SuperFeather WBO king after stopping Julio Pablo Chacon, in a fight held to fill up the vacancy left by Freitas who went up to Lightweight.

Barrios has had one successful defense: a fight held in his homeland of Argentina where he took out Victor Santiago in the 2nd.

It may not be fear that's making Jorge choose MAB over Pac. He took on Popo at the time when Freitas was a feared name (before Popo quit on Diego Corrales). Freitas had a 33-0 record with 30 KOs going into the meeting with Barrios. It could be that his management team thinks their ward has a better chance with Marco, who is not as fast and powerful as Pacquiao. Also, it could be that despite the vastly diminished and continuously diminishing luster of belts, Barrios and his team are still infatuated with alphabet titles and Pac has none while Marco had two (and, if some reports are to be believed may still have those two even if he loses to Chavez in the coming fight). At this time, the management team may be thinking The Heinna cannot afford to lose--he barely has a name-- and has to pick marque opponents against whom he has what they consider to be a fair chance.

Barrios, in any case, is defending his title late next month in Vegas against Janos Nagy, nicknamed "Bonecracker", who totes a record of 23-0 with 14 stoppages. Nagy's Hungarian promoter Felix Racz, says, should Nagy win over Barrios, he's going after MAB. Nary a mention of Pac.

Edit: It may also be important to note that both Jorge and Marco are promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.
