But but but. May-nelo only sold because of Canelo. With that said. Good numbers

350,000 is a GREAT number for Canelo. Looks like we have our next PPV star when Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, and Marquez are gone within the next two years.

Who is Canelo's competition? Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.? Tim Bradley, ?
don't know why people are comparing him to mayweathers numbers, this kid is just his second ppv fight, first headlining,,even Floyd at the start against Judah and others did the same as canelo, and canelo is coming off a loss Floyd was winning,,,it's only fair to campare their numbers later after canelo has done more ppv fights, not now, even cotto who was already a star did only 250k against mayorga who was a popular fighter, canelo gets a lot of hype but I don't think it's fair to compare his numbers with Floyd at this stage of his career,we should wait until he has atleast 4 or 5 more, then we'll see

But also lets remember those are big party days for alot of people, and a good portion of his buys come from people who have parties based around the event itself. Floyd is a big name, when he fights its all over ESPN and such, other fights just simply aren't. So people see it as a big deal, and they throw parties and purchase the PPV, it isn't just Mexicans and people paying to see him lose though I do imagine those are both a good portion of his sales.

Big boxing PPV matches are party events and people like to use any excuse they can to have a get together.
Disagree, fight on St. Partty's Day and see what happens. And don't tell me the Irish are not boxing fans.

Ponce come on, no one really cares about Ponce fights he is good and all and had some success but he is no kind of draw especially if he doesn't have a solid dance partner and I don't think Eduardo Escobedo counts as a solid dance partner.

I don't think those fights added many buys~
Mexicans on a Mexican holiday care. C'mon man. That's pretty obvious.

About Ponce? Ponce has never been a headliner in his whole career, not that he is not a quality fighter who I am sure some people enjoy as he has been around a long time and has been in some interesting fights.

So I don't see how he really helps sales that much unless he is fighting someone like Mares, Ponce against a solid opponent is a small selling point (the solid opponent would likely be a bigger selling point) I guess but against Eduardo Escobedo I don't think Ponce adds anything in terms of sales.
