Honestly, I'm beginning to lose interest. One has to wait long enough between fights. Must we wait even longer for meaningful fights? Canelo will now wait for the Martinez-Cotto winner. The boxers' bank accounts have become more important than the sport itself. That's fine for the fighters -- I understand it -- but the sport and the fans suffer.

Martinez will destroy Cotto at 70%. If he does, he has a mandatory defense he has to get out of the way and then he has 1 more fight with HBO. So Canelo/Martinez won't realistically go down till next year unless the cold war softens soon.

So really, Canelo has Rabchenko at 154, the Charlo twins, Quillin or Jacobs at 160 or a welterweight if he doesn't fight Lara.

I'm used to fighters being a little more aggressive when they "call out" an opponent. Lara was ultra respectful, even sheepish. When Canelo made that crack, Landy laughed. I wouldn't go as far as to say Lara embarrassed himself, but he could've probably done it better. At least he publicly made the request. I wouldn't exactly call it a "challenge."

I don't see what is so embarrassing about this to be honest. Yeah he wasn't exactly stern or imposing or anything but whatever, he wants a fight so he got up and asked for one.

Fighters don't need to act all intimidating and hard all the time, just coz he had a smile and laughed at Canelo's joke means nothing...It doesn't have to be some WWE type move like when Shane got in Floyd's post fight interview for example.
