Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Khan-Broner - Not Now, Maybe in The Future

For the last few days, former champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs) and Adrien Broner (27-1, 22KOs) have been trading words on the social networks. The tension first began when Floyd Mayweather Jr. promised Amir a future fight, but only if Khan was able to defeat Broner.

While Mayweather would like to see Khan and Broner trade leather on his May 3rd undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Schaefer indicates the fight won't happen in the immediate future.

The biggest reason for delay, says Schaefer, is both fighters are going in totally different directions in terms of their planed career moves.

Khan would have embarrassed Broner even with his chin issues, this would have been a bad choice for Broner he made the right move

That is more BULLSHT from Schafer!!! Khan was NOT going in a different direction!! He challenged Broner!! Team Broner had no problem rematching 147pound Maidana ASAP but Team Broner had a problem fighting 147 pound Khan on May 3rd????

Good. Looks like Khan will be forced to fight Thurman, Porter or Brooks.

Broner should be moving to 135 or 140. Move back up to 147 in a few years.

They want to keep both relevant and making this fight now would have really hurt one of them. Smart business move, sucks for the fans though.

I believe Broner is willing to fight at 147 but his team isn't confident at the weight anymore so they won't allow him to go thru with it.

Actually Broner's team said they planned to move down to 140 even prior to the Maidana loss. After loss they were willing to hang around 147 for Maidana rematch only. With rematch out the door, it's 140 time.

So now Schaeffer is changing his tune. Until today, he made it sound like Maidana beat this huge threat ..... now he is saying that Broner jumped up to WW division too soon!

It only happens if Khan signs with Big Al.
Slick Rick not a marinator? Maybe so, but he sure is 100% ass clown.
