Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez Doesn't Feel Angulo Quit Against Lara

Canelo Alvarez doesn’t think Alfredo Angulo quit against Erislandy Lara.

Despite the bad blood between the Mexican fighters as their March 8 bout nears, the former WBC super welterweight champion suspects the pain Angulo suffered around his left eye that night was simply unbearable. Otherwise, there would’ve been no reason to halt a fight Angulo had a strong chance to win after knocking down Lara in the fourth and ninth rounds June 8 in Carson, Calif.

Of course. Canelo has to justify a oot why he choose to fight angulo and not lara all the time, because the reason is to fight the winner and not the defeated. Lara is a better boxer, but it doent means angulo is not able to win canelo because he is good but not tbe best. This practice of svoid the best fighters creating suoer hyped boxers really sucks. Even canelo winning he will need a lot of excuses for continuing avoiding lara who is my favorite to win canelo. He is only hopping that someone defeate lara and then be able to avoid him. He is just begging that time help him with his cowarding

Canelo is coming of a loss and so is Angulo. I'm pretty sure Canelo will fight Lara at the end of this year if he does get passed Angulo.

He literally turned his back and walked away. That's called quitting.

And of course this thread will be flooded with people who pretend Lara didn't smash his left hand into Angulo's face over and over and over and make him quit.

i agree with you about canelo avoiding lara due to his lost, but then he should avoid to make coments who try to diminish lara like saying angulo was close to win and bla bla bla. He is just avoiding lara and all of his comments about lara as excuses for not fight are not neccesary.

He doesn't know the pain he went through to make him stop the fight? So Angulo stopped the fight because of pain but you don't call that quitting? I'm sorry but did I miss something? Lol.

Call it what you want, Angulo is a warrior and he went through hell to get where he got in that fight.

... And he WAS thumbed in the eye by Lara's jab.

I feel it is harsh to say Angulo quit. He took a lot of punishment in that fight until it was too painful to continue. Ortiz quit against Maidana. That was quitting, feeling the heat and wanting out of the kitchen. Angulo simply got so badly hurt that it made him turn away. There is a big difference.

Expecting fighters to take punishment until they are out cold is moronic. When bones break, eyes shut, or faces swell grotesquely then it is perfectly reasonable - sane even - for a fighter to accept he should concede for his own safety and future in the sport.
