Floyd will elbow, hold and move around the ring and that will in turn frustrate Maidana. If we get a good ref, then Maidana will have a higher output. His awkwardness may make up a bit for his being relatively slower.
Check out the Alexander fight. Lot's of holding and a very frustrated Maidana.
I wouldn't say its the punch output that would increase Floyds activity rather Maidana's awkwardness no matter how good Floyds defense is, would allow some hard shots to land and the pressure so long as Maidana does not gas out will be greater upon him. This in turn in would make Mayweather throw more punches to keep Maidana at distance or at bay which can be achieved as we have seen Amir and even Josesito manage to back Chino up.
I think a lot of people forget that Devon Alexander is a slick southpaw, something that Floyd is not. Floyd will choose Amir Khan. Maidana is a legitimate threat to land a lucky punch and KO Floyd, Amir, not so much. Amir will show up to box and there is no way he wins a decision against Floyd. He just doesn't have the mental fortitude to hold it together for 12 rounds.

It may not mean much but Amir Khan has never been out boxed (Peterson does not count) his chin may be made of glass but he has a heart of lion that will keep him going. Most fighters look like they give up when fighting Floyd, in Amir and Maidanas case I'm pretty sure both fighters will give it their all!

I don't question Khans heart, which is huge. It just seems like he breaks down mentally at some point. Whether it's fighting the other guys fight (Lamont Peterson) or getting careless and letting his guard down when he is clearly out boxing his opponent (Garcia, Maidana, Diaz), Amir just finds a way to lose on the big stage.

Alexander didn't outslick Maidana at all...he went in there and straight up beat his ass.
