We'll see who is willing to fight him in April, hopefully all the HBO backing will get some middleweights in the ring with him.

1) Stevens did A LOT better against Golovkin than Macklin did, he even had Golovkin cautious, Macklin was just a bug to be squashed in front of Golovkin.
2) Stevens would never lose to Jamie Moore and Andrew Facey, y'know, the unknown bums that exposed Macklin.
3) Stevens' recent 1RKO of Ma***ski was deadly.
Stop being so ****ing racist, everytime a white fighter does okay, people start hyping him, Macklin is certainly behind Stevens and only an idiot or a troll would think otherwise. The "Macklin is good"-myth started after Golovkin beat Macklin because Golovkin's fans were desperate to make it seem like a good win.
In fact, contrary to what you're saying, in the light of the Golovkin loss Macklins standing has taken a very big hit. Until then he was considered by most to be the best of the pick of the British/ Irish MW pack (Barker, Lee, Murray, Macklin). He was actually a very well respected fighter if you check the MW lists of the time.
FWIW the Jamie Moore fight (for the British JMW title) was an epic fight and well worth a watch.
Stevens also has 1 or 2 less than impressive losses on his record of course, but TBH I don't necessarily hold that against a fighter, and especially since moving down I would probably give him a decent chance of beating anyone not named Golovkin at 160 (though he didn't show up so well in the Findley fight, possibly cos Derrick wasn't giving him much to counter).Last edited by Citizen Koba; 02-04-2014, 08:48 AM.

Stevens has never been in any top 5 - though H2H I've a feeling he could beat a number who are.

The "Macklin is good" "myth" started with the Sturm vs Macklin fight, which every unbiased observer thought Macklin won, and continued with his much better than expected (if somewhat overrated) showing against Martinez.
For the record I personally have never been very high on Macklin. I think he is a bit of an overachiever, but his resume is waaay better than that of Stevens, and that has nothing to do with race.
