Comments Thread For: Amir, Haroon Khan Lend Support To Poet Laureate project

Boxing brothers Amir and Haroon Khan have added heavyweight support to Manchester Metropolitan University’s Mother Tongue Other Tongue project, a multilingual poetry competition that highlights and celebrates the wealth of languages spoken in schools across the U.K.

The project is led by Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate, and was developed by the Faculty of Humanities, Languages and Social Science at MMU and Routes into Languages North West before being rolled out nationally. School children are encouraged to share a lullaby, poem or song from their Mother Tongue and to explain what it means to them. Children learning another language can also show their creatively by writing a poem in that language.

I wonder if Amir Khan has ever gone somewhere/done something without a camera following him

The brothers were asked if they'd endorse this competition, which encourages creativity and diversity, and they did. No cameras were present. They could easily have said "No." It's a positive boxing story.

It has absolutely nothing to do with boxing.

Its good to have alotta languages but only if they can speak English along with it.

As for the second post its good to have boxers do crossover stuff to bring attention to boxing. If some fiter showed up at a gameshow that also has nothing to do with boxing but its good for the sport overall because of the attention its receiving.

So stop being a sad hater. He built a million dollar gym with no govt help so kids can train and stay off streets among other dozens of things he does for no reward.
