Comments Thread For: Photos: Pascal, Bute Ripped and Ready For Montreal War

Photos from the Sheraton in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as former world champions Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17 KO's) and Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO's) both make weight ahead of their HBO-televised match tomorrow night from the Bell Centre.

Pascal hit the scales at a ripped 175 pounds while Bute too appears to be in tremendous shape, coming in at 173.6 pounds.

Pascal is built to put a hurtin on Bute, but Bute won't engage him. He'll outbox him though.

Pascal's athleticism and awkwardness let him get to Bute early and often enough to take his zest for fighting away. The end isn't long after. Pascal by TKO.

Bute looks like he's been training for speed.

Bute by UD or late TKO/KO.

That's what I see happening. Tough to gauge Bute at this point. He may be able to outbox Jean, but his confidence has seemed really shaken since the Froch destruction

I think Bute's 13 month layoff could play a factor as well. Pascal wasn't fighting very tough opponents, but he at least fought Blades last year to stay somewhat active. Dawson is much more skilled than Lucian IMO and Pascal's awkwardness gave him fits.

Anyone know why Pascal was wearing tape over his mouth in the stare down? I missed the live weigh-in so I don't know. I'm sure it's cause of psychological warfare but what's the reason behind it?

Not sure about the outboxing. Bute had a high workrate a long time ago, before he started to only make room for his left uppercut. Then again we're talking Pascal, not the epitome of combination fighter there.

Pretty sure Bute declared that he's going to shut his mouth in the ring. Might have to do with that.

If the Pascal who beat Dawson shows up, I see him sneaking in those quick right hands on Bute. But if Pascal isn't able to land well in the first 5 rounds, I see Pascal becoming mentally fatigued and gets over-complacent with getting outboxed by Bute.
