I am a South African living in East London. Zolani Tete and Simphiwe Vetyeka are a few of our current champions from the city. Past Vuyani Bhungu and Welcome Ncita.

We don't need people talking for us as African. Africa has different countries like any other continent. Lastly we are aware of the boxing issues like any other issue through internet.

There Mayweather fans and other boxer's fans in this country but please what your TV in East London he will be a hero.

Did he become a hero in East London? Do you still respect him for going on safari instead of meeting the commitment to address the expected 20,000 people at the Sisa Dukashe stadium?

Did you watch the press conference he did at the Olympic House? The last question asked of him, by Mandela Jr. was, "What sort of legacy are you hoping to leave behind?" (after the short stay in South Africa). His answer should have prepared you for disappointment. He said, "A lot of fighters are looking to be the best. I just want to be known as the smartest fighter, you know, as far as business wise outside the ring."

If East London held a gala dinner where Floyd could auction off his memorabilia, like what was done for the Dube Boxing Club, then Floyd would have been there. But from what I understand, East London wanted Floyd to help build a gymnasium with money out of his own pocket instead of by auctioning his memorabilia. His idea of legacy speaks loudly to you...he's too smart a fighter/businessman to waste time in East London. As he boldly stated before, "Legacy don't pay bills."

Is he still a hero to East London? Do you view him as a role model for other South African boxers, as a champion who fights the best competition available? Or have you come to the realization that boxing is just a business for Floyd, where he wants the maximum monetary payday available for facing the least amount of risk to his undefeated record? I would be very interested to hear if or how your perceptions of him have changed, if any. What's the prevailing attitude of other East Londoners now that they have been stood up by Floyd?
