Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Trainer: We'll KO Sergio Martinez in Seven!

Current WBA Middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin will make his 2014 debut February 1st in Monte Carlo, Monaco as he takes on Osumanu Adama. Golovkin had a terrific 2013 where he recorded 4 victories against the likes of Gabriel Rosado, Matthew Macklin, and Curtis Stevens.

While Golovkin awaits his opportunity to face one of the big names of the division, some already feel he’s the best fighter at 160 pounds. When BoxingScene caught up with Golovkin’s trainer Able Sanchez he was asked if he felt Golovkin was the best fighter in the division or if Gennady needed to fight the other champions first to prove it. Not only did Sanchez feel his fighter was the best, he also said the guy most consider the number one fighter in Sergio Martinez wouldn’t last more than 7 rounds against GGG.

Cant say I disagree. Martinez doesnt have the youth or size to take it anymore. He'd have likely been able to stay away enough with his legs but now? Not so much. Unless he hurts GGG or GGG doesnt respond well to the style, I got GGG right now.

I like GGG but its funny how they keep matching him up with JMWs but they talk like he is destroying heavyweights in sparring. I would like to see him fight any other top MW or any legit SMW since Sergio is already agreeing to a fight with Cotto.

But your boxer isnt fighting Martinez, he's fighting fking Osumanu Adama who I had to google up becuase no one knows the guy.
He should shut up and let GGG do his talking in the ring, something at which he excells.

GGG might not make 7 with Ward.

                  I'm pretty sure he would.

Despite KOing the badly drained Dawson, Ward ain't really a big hitter. I'm not (at the moment) expecting GGG to be beat Ward if and when they meet, but I'd be surprised if Ward stopped him.

I like Sergio, but triple G is bad news for him.
