Current WBA Middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin will make his 2014 debut February 1st in Monte Carlo, Monaco as he takes on Osumanu Adama. Golovkin had a terrific 2013 where he recorded 4 victories against the likes of Gabriel Rosado, Matthew Macklin, and Curtis Stevens.
While Golovkin awaits his opportunity to face one of the big names of the division, some already feel he’s the best fighter at 160 pounds. When BoxingScene caught up with Golovkin’s trainer Able Sanchez he was asked if he felt Golovkin was the best fighter in the division or if Gennady needed to fight the other champions first to prove it. Not only did Sanchez feel his fighter was the best, he also said the guy most consider the number one fighter in Sergio Martinez wouldn’t last more than 7 rounds against GGG.
