If you were a boxer and you were fighting Golovkin or Sturm, you'd want to get paid? Otherwise what's the point in fighting them.

World title is neither here nor there to Murray because he felt he beat Sturm and Martinez and they wouldn't give the belt to him anyway. Sure they all want to be world champion, but they're prize-fighters first and foremost.

A title brings much higher purses, and better leverage. Beating GGG especially would raise his profile big time. Not that he should scoff at 400k+, no guarantee he ever makes that much again. He can fight guys like Fletcher and wait for Sturm for years, and he's not gonna make that much combined

Sturm is the obvious choice, more money and a title with less risk.

Here's what I'm saying though... what're the chances he gets a fight with Sturm?

        George brought it up earlier.

Soliman is the mando and Sturm will likely want to avenge the loss that got turned into a NC.

Next he has a voluntary, so it could be Murray or Macklin or whoever... but Sturm makes money regardless, I see him taking a cupcake 15th ranked guy...also Geale has a legit win over Sturm and I see Sturm wanting to avenge that. Also Geale would be the next mando after Soliman
And like we were talking about earlier, on the the chance Barker might come back.. he'll want a rematch with Sturm.
Macklin just as dangerous as Murray and he's looking for that shot too.

So I think if Murray is able to land a Sturm fight this year, that's incredible and he should do it... but it's bleak.

He would've had a good chance if he got the regular title and Golovkin didn't demand a mandatory (doubt it because they haven't done anything yet)...but Murray has no bargaining chips with Sturm.

He could sit and wait, but that's the same think everybody is lambasting Golovkin for.... except instead of sitting and waiting, he's fighting and waiting.

Like I said, he could win and they still might not give him the belt. Similarly, he could lose and not get another big fight. Getting paid is imperative.

400k USD which is about 240k GBP pre-tax, fees and expenses.

HBO handed Edwin Rodriguez $1m and Ward $2m to do less ratings than Golovkin but won't put the money up for him.

And yes... I understand a loss would hurt his Sturm chances. So just drop the interim so the next guy can pick it up. Murray holding it right now is kind of pointless, especially since the WBA turned down the regular title fight. It'll most likely be Chudinov and Hyrunov is building him up right now with names.
Trying to get Mayorga to fight him in April and other guys like Jeff Lacy and Taylor.]

Shoot, if Chudinov had the interim and was Golovkin's mandatory... I wonder how much money Hyrunov will throw at the fight to have it in Russia?

lol, I was reading some of that. Murray's a proud guy and a natural fighter so the ducking talk will piss him off. I'd be interested to see how much he wants to fight Golovkin, no one asks him that.

Didn't Soliman request the Golovkin fight?

Didn't Soliman request the Golovkin fight?
From what I remember, it was during the Stevens negotiations. They didn't like what Stevens was saying about money, so they brought up N'dam, Soliman and Adama's names to try and show they had options.

                  Also, I don't think he'll give a straight number.

                    Just saw this
                    tnews.com/Boxing/soliman-i-have-the-style-to-defeat-golovkin-233750

After he beat Les he said that stuff.
Of course he's waiting for his mando Sturm shot...don't know if Sturm takes that right away or a voluntary, but you can imagine Sturm not taking anybody hard for a voluntary.

Sounds like he's willing to unify if he does win the belt....which is good... but IMO, if he does win the belt, he fights Geale in Aussie

Makes me think so....or find a way to bring Golovkin there

Soliman's a more legit fight than Adama. They should have gone that route imo, but maybe the money wasn't right for SS.

Possibly not, but he should if he really wants to fight Golovkin. At least then the boxing public could put pressure on HBO demanding the fight. Because that's the real story of people avoiding GG, for the better boxers in the division the money offered is too low to fight what looks like the best and most dangerous fighter in the division.
