Sergio has been taking a beating in the ring since Chavez Jr stoned, nearly stopped in in the last round. Sergio considers himself "athletic" enough to win fights, but at some point you need to fight, and everytime he stops to fight, with his hands carried at his side, Serg gets hurt. Cotto if you choose to engage, will turn your fight into a street fight, and you my friend, get mugged.

In all honesty, I highly doubt Cotto will stop Martinez. I don't think Cotto hits as hard as Chavez Jr. Even then, Chavez DIDN'T knock Martinez out. Am I missing something here? I respect Cotto as much as the next guy, but he is not a Middleweight, and I doubt he has the same power as Martinez's last four opponents.

Martinez got hurt the first time he got hit, he was gassed out against a guy who threw no punches. I don't see Cotto putting him to sleep, but Cotto will break down that body and wreck Sergio's pretty nose with his jab while Martinez hands are on his sides like usual. I can see a late TKO stoppage, Sergio's stamina is possible worse than Cotto's at best it's even IMO and Cotto is the better pressure fighter.

BTW WTF is Sergio even talking about? He has no leverage for this fight, he is the champion... Big deal. Cotto is the draw and the reason this fight will sell. Is he complaining about the weight maybe? Or the money? Last time I saw Sergio calling out Cotto he said he would fight him at 155 and for 20% of the purse. My guess is that Cotto is using Sergio's EXACT ****ING words on his ***** ass and Sergio is now pissed off about it. Cotto should just come out and say "don't open your mouth then b*tch." Can anyone summarise or shed insight into some of the things Martinez is referring to?

Cotto comes across pretty likeable to most people and has done for some time. Of course things can be decieving and we often see a best version.

I thought both were relatively sound characters but there's rarely smoke without fire.

Martinez has also complained about a few too many boxers as-well IMO.
