Sources say that Cotto v Martinez is on, set for MSG in June for the middleweight championship of he world. I was hoping this fight wouldn't happen, Cotto is a dog and fights anyone but MARTINEZ, if he can come back from injury successfully, will destroy Cotto. But it could possibly be the biggest fight of the year so hell, let's do it!

Toss up fight with a slight lean towards Sergio. Great fight either way.

Cotto is gonna punch like a fly compared to the punchers Sergio has faced.

The clash will be of styles. Not sure how Sergio's hands down style will do against a guy like Cotto - that said - I dont know if Cotto will still be able to fight like his WW self at 160. Less power. Less mobility. All depends what version of Sergio will show up.

Both men deserve a lot of respect for taking a fight that shouldn't be easy for either guy. I just don't know if 4 months will be enough preparation time for Sergio Martinez after coming back from two back to back injuries that required surgery. They say that he will be cleared to start training in February, so does that mean that he will barely be able to start working out in February or start boxing again in February? If he's barely going to start exercising at that time then he's going to have plenty of rust to shake off and I don't see how he would have enough time to train for a difficult fight. There's also the matter of not rushing things like training hard or fighting due to the possibility of sustaining yet another injury. Those things have to heal properly and they take time even after you are cleared to start doing certain things. I know that Martinez has said it himself that he would like to come back around that time, but I just hope that he isn't being pressured into anything that he will have to stay committed to. Martinez deserves the right to return at 100% or as close to 100% as physically possible to get a fair chance at defending his hard earned lineal title which he worked so hard to earn.

I like both fighters but Cotto bit off more than he can chew here. Sergio isnt Delvin Rodriguez. Hes bigger, faster, more powerful, slicker, awkward, and smarter. Hes the MW champion of the world. Name value this is a fun fight but Cotto gets brutalized and stopped.
